Scope: A customer approached us with an example of a quick-lock latch for electrical cabinets on a Military Vessel. They needed to source many more of these but couldn’t find any information on the OEM, not did they have any drawings. From this example, we were able to reverse engineer the various components and create a trial part.

We machined some of the parts ourselves, and worked with our network of approved suppliers to source components we could not manufacture in house. We designed and manufactured custom rivet tools to assemble all the parts together. Once we had a small batch of samples, we allowed the customer to take them away and trial them to ensure they worked as intended. From those trials some parts needed small revisions which we implemented and then produced on a mass scale.

Since the initial trial batch, we have produced and assembled over 1000 of these components, all Zinc plated and Yellow Passivated with our approved finishing supplier to ensure they continue to function exactly as intended for years to come.

Time Frame: 10 weeks from initial example to full production batch.
