Design and manufacture of a Cooling Tunnel and Conveyors System for Lasco Europe.

“In 2004 as Operations Director for Lasco Europe Limited I was looking for a UK provider of a bespoke engineering solution for the provision of a cooling tunnel together with infeed and outfeed conveyoring for hot filled juice pouches.Following initial contact with GMD Eurotool I invited Gary and his team to work up the engineering project design to the fully costed stage for presentation to my Board.

The scheme of work included the total overhaul and conversion of a large stainless steel cooling tunnel, originally used for cooling glass jars of pickle, to handle 200 ml drink pouches. Including the design of a suitable infeed conveyor from the filler to the tunnel and an extensive set of outfeed conveyors to include pouch drying whilst maintaining pouch orientation and deliver them to the packing station.

GMD Eurotool worked closely with my engineering and technical team to provide a full design, specification and cost package that gained Board approval. The cooling tunnel and conveyor system virtually filled the well equipped GMD Eurotool workshop during the conversion and overhaul. The GMD Eurotool team were very open to input from Lasco and joint work was involved in the application engineering phase.

The conversion and fabrication was completed on time to a high quality standard to meet specification. GMD Eurotool installed the complete system working with Lasco process engineering contractors; line testing and production commissioning took place and pouch production commenced on time.
